🌟What If We Started Treating Kids Like Prodigies?

So often people speak to children as if they are dumb, yet in many ways, their minds surpass those of adults.

• They see the world with brand new eyes.

• They are more innovative, creative, imaginative.

• Their brains are more adaptable, flexible, and plastic.

• They learn languages, motor skills, and even complex, abstract concepts at unparalleled speed.

You See, Children Aren't Dumb, They're Just Beginners.

What might happen if we started seeing children as fires to be stoked, clay to be molded, seeds to be nurtured?

For one, we’d stop putting them in desks, dismissing their ideas, and smothering them with worksheets.

Instead we’d find projects, experiments, art, & music that touched their souls and lit their imaginations on fire.

We’d enthusiastically👇

• Teach 7 year olds astrophysics and to think abstractly like Einstein

• Investigate inductive reasoning, geology, and Greek mythology with Bernini’s greatest sculpture

• Use urban planning to teach them about the microscopic world

• Recreate ancient experiments, letting history & science work together

• Learn about sound physics & hearing conduction with Beethveen

• And we’d marvel at the aching beauty of architectural wonders like the Hagia Sophia and Frank Lloyd Wright’s Falling Water while learning about biomimicry & structural engineering

My children (10 & 7) have done all of these things and more.

I know what your thinking. “They’re too young. They wouldn’t understand. Kids hate this stuff.”

But I want you to remember your babies, your toddlers. Did you have to coax them to learn to walk? talk? run? No, children come here obsessed. They are on fire with learning.

Our job is to keep that fire 🔥 burning bright. We don’t do that by stripping the beauty, elegance, and fascinating things out of their lives.

We stoke their fire by setting the table with a feast to be devoured.

So, I challenge you to change the way you think about children. My children’s brains are far superior to my 43 year old brain, which if I’m honest is starting to show its age. My children may not yet be wiser but their ability to learn, create, imagine beats my brain any day.

Children deserve more than your respect they deserve your admiration.
