Learning to Think Through Literature and History
Literature & Handwriting
Last week we finished up “A Wrinkle in Time”. I worried this one was a bit complex for my 9 and 6 year olds but they have loved it! I do stop occasionally to explain vocabulary or some of the more complex time/space concepts in more detail. If you have suggestions on how best to describe the 5th dimension to kids (or adults for that matter), let me know!
I wrote a blog on how I teach my kids to think through discussion of stories and more importantly themes across stories here. Teaching children to think is a lot about modeling thinking. Asking questions and thinking “out loud” let’s kids see how you are comparing and contrasting the things in your world. Story time is a great time to do this because kids are so engaged by stories.
